This game was made for the February 2019 TV Game Jam. It is based on Season 2, Episode 5 of The Good Place, and in some sense it includes spoilers for that show. The game was built in PICO-8.

The episode and the game both are centered on The Trolley Problem, a classic thought experiment in ethics. Although this game is interactive, it uses only one button, and it includes multiple dialogue sequences. As the player, you effectively control the action at key decision points by deciding whether or not to pull the levers that will switch the trolley track.

A full, single playthrough of the game, without skipping any of the dialogue, takes a little under 10 minutes. You may want to play it more than once to see different outcomes.

Update 2019-02-18By popular request, I've added a second button for fast-forwarding through dialogue. This makes multiple playthroughs to see the alternate scenarios/judges much more feasible. I also fixed a bug related to the judges' scoring on replays.

Dude lol I'm mad I just now got a chance to place this. This was dope, made me want to watch the show. It definitely has more of a "what kind of person are you" vibe than other games that try to do the same. I don't know why you're always playing like you don't have games to show!

Hahaha, thanks for checking it out :) It's one of the only "complete" games I've ever released!

SPOILER, i guess, but is a choice between Spock and redshirts really a choice? We all know they are gonna die soon even we save them.

Spock always comes back anyway!
